2010 Fireside LBV Zinfandel
This traditional tawny port-style wine is garnet-hued, with subtle bricking around the rim. Aromas of dried currant, dark chocolate, praline, and gingerbread give way to dried fig and molasses on the palate. The finish lingers with notes of brown sugar and pipe tobacco. Sweet and warming, this is the perfect drink to end an evening.
Wine Profile
Food Pairing Notes
The rich complexity of this wine is wonderful on its own, but is a fantastic complement to stilton cheese, dark chocolate, or fig preserves.
Other Notes
In actuality, we should be calling our LBV a Colheita (cuhl-YAY-tah). A Colheita is a tawny Port that is made with grapes all sourced from the same vintage, as opposed to the majority of Tawny Ports that are blends of many different vintages. It is different from a vintage port in that its primary characteristics are a result of extended barrel age whereas vintage ports are characterized by extended bottle age.
