Vineyard Spotlight: Fennwood Vineyard
With the 2015 vintage, we have made a small name change in our Pinot Noir program. The “Vintage Select” Pinot Noir is being replaced by the vineyard-designated Fennwood Vineyard Pinot Noir. We have worked with Fennwood since 2014, and are delighted to highlight this earthy, spice-driven site.
Planted in 2007 & 2008, the vineyard was selected by Willamette Valley pioneer David Adelsheim and planted according to his vision to match each soil series and elevation change to specific variety, clone, and rootstock. This careful planning and execution led to a very complex vineyard layout that enhances the potential success of each block.
The 2015 release is composed of 42% Wadenswil, 38% 667, and 20% Pommard.

A Label History
Our Poor Farm Estate Pinot Gris always has a label featuring artwork from the McMenamins properties. The art for the 2015 vintage is from the Anderson School in Bothell, Washington: Lyle Hehn’s “Match In the Attic.” The painting depicts the Boone sisters, descendants of Daniel Boone’s brother, Squire. Here we see them raise a toast to the Anderson School, McMenamins’ newest location.

Recipe
One of our favorite things for summer barbecues is this delicious red onion jam, which can be put on a burger, served as an accompaniment to grilled chicken or pork chops, used to liven up a grilled cheese sandwich, or paired with chevre on crostini. Our 2015 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir will match well with the sweet-savory notes of this classic French condiment.
